This new family learning course has been launched
at Penistone Grammar School to help support students and
their families maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Families are invited to come along, learn
about healthy food choices and cook these easy, economical,
healthy dishes.
The recipes used are healthy
alternatives to “shop bought” pre-packed ready meals. They
provide all the nutrients needed to make up a healthy balanced
diet. They are low in salt, sugar and fats.
Some of the recipes included show
a good way of hiding fruit & vegetables in your child's
meal if they are faddy eaters. The dishes are also a good
way of providing fruit & vegetables in the daily diet
as part of the recommended 5 a-day portions.
The recipes can be altered to your
own taste. Different seasonal fruits & vegetables can
be used. Different varieties of meats can be used or can
be left out of the recipes for a vegetarian option.
